Buoy Glasses

Description

This drawing started out as just simply an attempt to put glasses on a face. I definitely changed movements, adding a harder angular line to the swirl. The glasses were a great challenge. In the end I noticed it looked a lot like my buddy Buoy a.k.a. Matt Carr (but nobody knows that) which I found to be utterly fantastic!

This is a pastel drawing. It is seventh in a line of 10 or 11 drawings that I have done dealing with portraiture and my obsession with light and line. I enjoy freely and fearlessly scribbling to make form and shadow, all of which is affected by the light I create. This portrait along with others that I will upload are not only self portraits but portraits of my life, my friends, my family, everything.

Everything that exists around me I use for inspirations. Be it working at the local mall, or getting high with friends, or making passionate love all of it goes into my art. These drawings are the newest expressions of my love as well. My love permeates all that I exist with. Love is the natural balance of hate. One cannot exist without the other, as is with light and dark, and all of life. Balance is neccessary for me, my gemini is a duality that shakes my spiritual core daily. I seek balance to understand all that is around me. This is represented in these works by damaged eyes or ears or other disfiguring or disgusting features. It serves to show that beauty is not only reserved for the rich and supposedly perfect, but that truly, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Make love, make art, make peace.
